This brand new state-of-the-art classroom and meeting space is on the forefront of sustainable buildings at SNARL. Using a combination of ground source heating/cooling, PV electrical generation, and the latest in construction technology the building is net-zero consumer of fossil fuel and slated for LEED Gold certification.
A net-zero energy building produces sufficient renewable energy to meet the annual energy consumption for the building. Thus, the overal energy consumption of the buiding totals to a net zero. The Page Center generates its own energy through the ground source heating and cooling system, photovolatic electrical generation, and building practices in which mitigate overal energy consumption.
Not only does this building fit within the sustainability goals of VESR but it helps UC Santa Barbara reach its carbon neutarlity goal in reducing the overall emissions of university operations.
