Mule Deer's golden-beige coloration and white underside and throat can be spotted in a multitude of different habitats. In California, they can be found in chapparral, deserts, shrub woodlands, the great plains, sagebursh, and boreal forests just to name a few. Their large ears help to detect the arrival of predators such as mountain lions, coyotes, bobcats, and black bears.
