Although the Ruby-crowned Kinglet is a small bird, its nests can consist of up to 12 eggs! While their whole body is a olive green, their underside is a lighter shade than the top and male Ruby-crowned Kinglets have a bright red crown that is typically concealed unless excited. The Ruby-crowned Kinglet is popular in spruce-fir forests and they eat insects on the trees.
