Red-shouldered hawks are birds of habit in that they return to their same nesting territory every year. The Red-shouldered Hawk has a distinct peach-red underside with a striped tail. They perform aerial dives to hunt prey ranging from small mammals to snakes and amphibians. They typically live in riparian and oak woodlands but can aslo be spotted in more urban areas with eucalyptus trees.
