As one of the largest falcons in North America, the Peregrine Falcon can be identified by their slate blue wings and white underside with black horizontal bars. They can be found all around the world in many habitats including mudflats, coastlines, lake shores, and mountain chains. Peregrine Falcons have even been seen nesting at elevations around 12,000 feet! Their diet consists mainly of other birds and can reach speeds of 67 mph when pursuing prey. In diving to catch prey speeds of 230 mph have been recorded for these falcons. Populations of these birds have been in rebound since the decline in 1950.
