The Goshawk is a medium-large bird of prey and has a wide distribution spreading from North America to Europe and parts in Asia. Its tail and short wings allow for high agility when in flight that helps to chase birds and mammal prey. They have been noted to be aggressive upon defending its nest attacking other animals and even people who get too close.
