Male American Goldfinches have a bright yellow lemon body and dark black wings with white stripes. Female American Goldfinches have hints of yellow within their beige feathers and brown and white striped wings. They live in fields, floodplains, and overgrown areas eating seeds amoung foliage and nesting in shrubs.
